PSASK12.ORG PRIVACY POLICY (UPDATED JUNE 8, 2020)

Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences (PSAS) appreciates every platform a community member uses, as part of the network’s communications strategy. This privacy policy is a disclosure document that’s meant to inform you about the use of personal data or information. When it comes to your protection, other applicable laws about privacy apply, such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that have actual knowledge that they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.

Types of Data

Among the types of personal data that PSASK8.org collects, by itself or through third parties, there are cookie, usage data, first name, last name, gender, date of birth, phone number, profession, address, country, state, email address, ZIP/postal code, city, username, password and company name. Other personal data collected may be described in other sections of this privacy policy, the Wix.com privacy policy (See “Web Developer” below) or by dedicated explanation text contextually with the data collection. The personal data may be freely provided by the User or collected automatically when using PSASK8.org.

Any use of cookies – or of other tracking tools – by PSASK8.org or by the owners of third-party services used by PSASK8.org, unless stated otherwise, serves to identify Users and remember their preferences, for the sole purpose of providing the service required by the user. Failure to provide certain personal data may make it impossible for PSASK8.org to provide its services. Users are responsible for any personal data of third parties obtained, published or shared through PSASK8.org and confirm that they have the third party’s consent to provide the data to Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences. The data concerning the user is collected to allow Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences to provide its services, as well as for the following purposes: analytics, contacting the user, and registration and authentication.

You have the right, at any time, to know whether your personal data has been stored and can consult PSAS to learn about their contents and origin, to verify their accuracy or to ask for them to be supplemented, canceled, updated or corrected, or for their transformation into anonymous format or to block any data held in violation of the law, as well as to oppose their treatment for any and all legitimate reasons. Requests should be sent to the PSAS IT Department by calling 719-404-2680 or visiting its network office at 1850 E Platteville Blvd, Pueblo, CO 81007.

Web Developer (WIX.com)

Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences website solution at PSASK8.org is provided by Wix.com. Its privacy policy applies to personal information collected on websites, applications, or other web-based environments provided and hosted by Wix.com for Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences and its schools.

The WIX.com privacy policy pertains only to the personal information that Wix.com collects from you or that is provided to us by Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences, where Wix.com serves as the data processor on PSAS’s behalf. Personal information is information that identifies an individual, such as a person’s first and last name, postal address, e-mail address, and phone number.

Student Information System (PowerSchool)

PSAS’s student information system solution is provided by PowerSchool (privacy policy). The system requires its own username, password, and account information to access it. While PSASK8.org may link to PowerSchool, often referred to as the “Parent Portal” or the “Student Portal,” the system does not transmit to or receive personal information from, PSASK8.org. Individual, personally identifiable student records collected and maintained by Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences shall be accessible only to authorized education officials for the purposes of auditing, monitoring and evaluating local, state and federal education programs, or for the completing of local, federal or state-mandated activities requiring access to such records.

Access to individual student records is stringently controlled through technical security conventions and procedures. Appropriate usernames and passwords, and other sign-in credentials, are assigned to users to establish each user’s data access authority only to the records or data elements required to complete local, federal, or state-mandated activities. Parents and guardians of students are provided system access credentials, but only to access their student records and personal information. Parents and guardians may access these records and information electronically, or by visiting the PSAS registrar or school administrators.

Learning Management System (Schoology)

PSAS’s learning management system solution is provided by Schoology (privacy policy). Like the networks’ student information system, this learning management system requires its own username, password, and account information to access it. While PSASK8.org may link to Schoology, the system does not transmit to or receive personal information from, PSASK8.org. Schoology is a cloud-based learning management system and configurable social network for education. The platform provides a full suite of learning management tools, including an online grade book, attendance, test/quizzes, discussion boards, blogs, and collaborative course and group pages. In order to promote student and teacher engagement, Schoology aims to leverage the familiarity and advantages of popular social media tools to promote communication and collaboration outside of the classroom. The social network permits multiple organizations to participate in shared classes, groups, and discussions.

Schoology, provided by Schoology, Inc. with permission of Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences, is made available to users subject to its terms of use in the Schoology service agreement. By using and accessing this service, you are agreeing to be bound by, and to comply with, its terms of use and any other terms of use or terms of service posted on any individual page of this service. Schoology has received TRUSTe’s Privacy Seal signifying that this privacy statement and our practices have been reviewed for compliance with the TRUSTe program viewable on the validation page available by clicking the TRUSTe seal. Live Chat System (Social Intents)

PSAS’s website live chat is provided by Social Intents (Privacy Policy). Social Intent’s privacy policy contains information about collecting users’ personal data, products, and services offered or performed by SocialIntents, and the manner of its processing. Due to the implementation of comprehensive security regulations, personal data provided by the website and mobile application users is of the highest security standards.

Social Intents complies with the U.S.–E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal data from European Union member countries and Switzerland.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

PSAS’s website analytics solution is provided by Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. The service enables Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences to monitor and analyze web traffic and can be used to keep track of user behavior. Google uses the data collected to track and examine the use of PSASK8.org, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services. Google may use the data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. Personal data collected: cookie and usage data.

Contact Forms, Surveys (PSASK12.org)

By filling in the contact form with their data, you authorize Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences to use these details to reply to requests for information, quotes, or any other kind of request as indicated by the form’s header. Personal data collected: address, city, country, date of birth, email address, first name, last name, gender, phone number, profession, state, and ZIP/postal code.

From time to time, Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences may request information from you through surveys or feedback forms. Participation is voluntary. Information collected is used for the purposes of improving educational products or services, as well as understanding our community. No personal information collected in this manner will be used or disclosed except in compliance with this, or the Wix.com, privacy policy.

PSAS Mailing Lists (MailChimp)

By registering for the Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences mailing list, the user’s email address is added to the contact list of those who may receive email messages containing information of commercial or promotional nature concerning Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences. Your email address might also be added to this list as a result of signing up for PSASK8.org or enrolling in its schools. Personal data collected: address, city, company name, cookie, country, date of birth, email address, first name, gender, last name, phone number, profession, state, Usage Data, and ZIP/postal code.

Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences is committed to permission-based email marketing, as outlined by MailChimp, the network’s email marketing solution. This commitment is consistent with ensuring the highest levels of deliverability. We adhere to a permission marketing policy. As part of this policy, we cannot send unsolicited bulk email, commonly known as “spam”, through our email marketing application. In simplest terms, “spam” is an email message sent to a group of recipients who have not explicitly requested to receive it. This extends beyond the minimum legal requirements of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and is essential for minimizing complaints resulting from email messages. MailChimp’s email marketing application can only be used to send messages to email addresses that have provided explicit and deliberate permission.

Legal action


The user’s personal data may be used for legal purposes by Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences in court or in the stages leading to possible legal action arising from improper use of PSASK8.org or the related services. The user declares to be aware that Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences may be required to reveal personal data upon request of public authorities.

Additional information about the user’s personal data

In addition to the information contained in this privacy policy, PSASK8.org may provide the user with additional and contextual information concerning particular services or the collection and processing of personal data upon request.

System logs and maintenance

For operation and maintenance purposes, PSASK8.org and any third-party services may collect files that record interaction with PSASK8.org (System logs) or use for this purpose other personal data (such as IP address).

The rights of users

PSASK8.org does not support “Do Not Track” requests. To determine whether any of the third-party services it uses honor the “Do Not Track” requests, please read their privacy policies.

Changes to this privacy policy

Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy at any time by giving notice to its users on this page. It is strongly recommended to check this page often, referring to the date of the last modification listed at the bottom. If a user objects to any of the changes to the Policy, the User must cease using PSASK8.org and can request that Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences removes the personal data. Unless stated otherwise, the then-current privacy policy applies to all personal data Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences has about users.
