Welcome to PSAS Charter Schools

Every child deserves an education that challenges their mind and supports their growth. As partners in your child’s educational journey, the PSAS family—spanning Jones Charter, Fulton Heights, Pueblo Classical, and Pueblo Fusion—is committed to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

What Makes Us Different? Our innovative teaching practices are rooted in Paideia principles and deeply enriched by the Arts and Sciences. We provide meaningful learning experiences that help students reach their full potential, growing into confident learners, thoughtful leaders, and engaged citizens.

We are so honored to welcome your family to ours. Let’s help your child thrive, together.

What is Paideia Education?

Paideia Education is a teaching philosophy that focuses on developing the whole child—not just academic knowledge, but also critical thinking, communication skills, character, and a lifelong love of learning.

The word Paideia comes from ancient Greek and means “the education of the complete person.”

Benefits of a Paideia Education

● Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
● Effective communication and collaboration
● Greater student engagement
● Preparation for college, careers, and civic life
● Development of lifelong learners

The Three Pillars of Paideia

Didactic Instruction (Knowledge)

Teachers provide direct instruction and foundational knowledge. Students learn essential facts, concepts, and skills.

Coaching (Skills Development)

Students practice and apply what they've learned. Teachers act as coaches, guiding students through hands-on activities, projects, and problem-solving.

Socratic Seminars (Critical Thinking)

Students engage in thoughtful discussions about ideas, texts, and real-world issues. The focus is on asking questions, supporting opinions with evidence, listening to others, and thinking deeply.

What Does Paideia Look Like in the Classroom?

Students actively participate in discussions rather than simply listening to lectures

Learning is connected across subjects and to real-world experiences

Teachers encourage inquiry, collaboration, and reflection

Students learn how to think, not just what to think

Paideia aligns well with your focus on rigorous academics, project-based learning, creativity, and student engagement, helping students become thoughtful, capable, and confident learners who are prepared for future success.

Following yesterday's letter from Executive Director Dave Martin, the PSAS Charter Network is sharing the difficult news that Pueblo Classical Academy will not reopen for the 2026–2027 school year. This decision comes after changes in Colorado school funding legislation that impacted the campus's ability to continue operating. Our hearts are with the students, families, staff, alumni, and community members who have been a part of Pueblo Classical Academy. For years, PCA has been an important part of the PSAS Charter Network, and we are deeply grateful for the trust families have placed in us and for the lasting impact this school has had on our community. Our highest priority is supporting every current PCA family through this transition. Families with students enrolled at Pueblo Classical Academy for the 2026–2027 school year are asked to contact the PSAS Enrollment Team by email at enrollment@psas.ws. Our team is working directly with families to discuss priority placement opportunities at Jones Charter Academy, Fulton Heights Charter Academy, and the Fusion Online Program. To help us assist every family as quickly and efficiently as possible, we kindly ask that families contact us by email at this time.We understand this transition brings many questions, and every email will receive a response from our team. Thank you for your patience, grace, and understanding as we work alongside our families during this time.We remain committed to serving our students and supporting every family as they take the next steps forward. The PSAS team is also evaluating transportation options to help support affected families. Additional information will be shared as soon as it becomes available. ... See MoreSee Less
